Serenade of the Seas to sail from San Juan for Eighth Consecutive Season

London, 4 May, 2010 – Royal Caribbean International has announced the cruise line’s 2011-12 Southern Caribbean deployment and Mariner of the Seas’ South America circumnavigation cruises.

Serenade of the Seas will sail its eighth consecutive season in the Southern Caribbean from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Adventure of the Seas also will return for winter 2011-12. Guests also can choose from two sailings in January 2011 aboard Mariner of the Seas, which combined, circumnavigate the South American continent. Alternatively, Royal Caribbean International’s Machu Picchu Adventure Cruisetour combines a sailing aboard Mariner of the Seas with a five-night escorted land tour itinerary.

In total, the three ships will offer 73 sailings on 19 distinct itineraries that include 25 unique ports of call. Bookings for these 2011-12 sailings are now open.

“These cruises and the South America cruisetour land package offer guests a memorable family holiday,” said Betsy O’Rourke, senior vice president of Marketing, Royal Caribbean International. “Adventure of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas offer exclusive onboard amenities and entertainment options for every member of the family.”

Adventurers can choose the 16 January 2011 sailing aboard Mariner of the Seas followed by the five-night land tour itinerary from Valparaiso, Chile, to cultural centres and the major Incan archeological sites of Chile and Peru. The highlight of the land tour features a full day to explore Machu Picchu. Guests also can choose the pre-cruise land tour itinerary, followed by a grand South America odyssey to Brazil aboard Mariner of the Seas, sailing 1 February 2011. All Royal Caribbean cruisetours are escorted by a Tour Director who specialises in the region and includes guests’ transportation, hotel accommodations, certain activities and some meals.

In Peru Mariner of the Seas’ guests can rediscover the mysterious Lost City of the Incas on “Cuzco & Machu Picchu Adventure.” In Ushuaia, Argentina, guests can cruise Lapataia Bay and the Beagle Channel in the Tierra del Fuego National Park by catamaran to view a colony of Magellanic penguins on "Penguin Rookery Navigation." On one of the two days in Montevideo, Uruguay, guests can choose a visit to a Uruguayan gaucho ranch and enjoy a barbeque lunch on "Day at the Estancia."

Guests have a variety of exciting Royal Caribbean International shore excursion options to enhance their Southern Caribbean cruise, such as relaxing like a Rockefeller on the 150-acre, eco-friendly Carambola Resort at St. Croix on “Carambola Beach Break,” or enjoying Aruba's countryside from a four-seat SUV as guests make their way to De Palm Island for lunch, swimming and snorkeling on "Jeep Off-Road Adventure." To get the blood pumping, guests can take on "Antigua Canopy & Challenge," a unique eco-tour with 21 unforgettable journey-elements through the island’s lush rainforest.

Serenade of the Seas will offer a third consecutive year of seven-night roundtrip cruises to the Southern Caribbean from San Juan, beginning in April 2011. Serenade of the Seas will depart weekly on Sundays in the summer 2011 season and on Saturdays during the winter season. The two alternating summer itineraries will offer guests no repeating ports when booking two consecutive sailings, whereas the two alternating winter itineraries have St. Kitts in common. Travellers also have the choice of a one-time eight-night and a six-night itinerary that will sail on 7 May and 13 November 2011.

Adventure of the Seas will begin its winter 2011-12 season in November, alternating two distinct seven-night itineraries that also will offer guests, booked on two consecutive sailings, no repeat calls at any port for a more comprehensive Southern Caribbean adventure. Two special holiday itineraries, an eight-night and a seven-night cruise, departing on 18 December and 26 December 2011 will feature onboard holiday celebrations and a shipwide New Year’s countdown party. Guests also can choose a one-time, six-night Southern Caribbean itinerary, sailing on 2 January 2012.

For its part, Mariner of the Seas will depart Los Angeles on 16 January 2011 on a 16-night repositioning itinerary to Valparaiso, Chile, followed by a 14-night itinerary to Sao Paulo (Santos), Brazil, via Cape Horn and the southern tip of South America. The 14-night sailing features an overnight in the embarkation port of Valparaiso and then at Montevideo, Uruguay, before arriving in Santos, Brazil on 15 February.

Guests on all three ships will enjoy Broadway entertainment by Royal Caribbean International Productions, complimentary and award-winning Adventure Ocean kids and teen-only programmes, an extensive menu of rejuvenating spa treatments to choose from in the Day Spa, and spectacular views from the top of Royal Caribbean’s iconic rock-climbing wall. The announcement comes just 14 months after the Miami-headquartered company opened its Sydney office. Gavin Smith, managing director, Royal Caribbean Cruises Australia said, “The move is a demonstration of the strength of the local cruise market, and is in response to demand from American, European and Asian visitors to experience Australia onboard our cruise ships. The move will double the number of tourists the company brings to Australia each year to more than 30,000.”

“We’re supported by the exceptional efforts of our international sales and marketing teams, particularly in North America, UK, Europe and Asia, who help to generate demand for cruises Down Under. Our cruise-tour team does a great job in working with local tourism operators to provide a wide range of uniquely Australasian experiences for all our guests.”
“We’ve also seen a marked increase in demand from Australians for the Royal Caribbean International brand over the past year and this is something we are keen to build upon. The announcement represents a multi-million dollar investment in Australia, and Sydney is an excellent base port for our operations Down Under.”

Radiance of the Seas will be the newest, largest and most modern ship to be home ported in Sydney.  At 293 metres in length Radiance of the Seas offers a wide range of onboard features including a half basketball court, mini golf, cinema, kids’ swimming area with waterslide and five restaurants including two signature fine dining experiences – Portofino Italian and Chops Grille Steakhouse.

Carrying 2,100 passengers, an impressive 55 per cent of guest cabins have a balcony.  The ship also offers a rock climbing wall, an adults-only solarium, spa and fitness centre, children’s Adventure Ocean club, Casino Royale and a Broadway style theatre.
Royal Caribbean International’s Rhapsody of the Seas is currently sailing in Australasian waters and will depart for Alaska at the end of the season on 12 April, returning in October this year for summer 2010-11.

Itineraries will be announced in late March 2010 when bookings are opened to the public.

MIAMI, 16 February 2010 – Royal Caribbean International has announced Daily Reservations, an online reservation system for guests enrolled in the My Time Dining programme.

By using Daily Reservations, My Time Dining guests can make nightly reservations in the main dining room for themselves, and include other guests at their table. Guests can access, request and review their Daily Reservations in advance of their sailing through the Pre-Cruise Planner or Cruise Enhancements section of RoyalCaribbean.com.

Daily Reservations is currently available for Royal Caribbean International Oasis of the Seas sailings and will be deployed fleetwide in spring 2010.

More information can be found at www.RoyalCaribbean.com/MyTimeDining.

“Daily Reservations offers guests greater convenience when it comes to enjoying all of Royal Caribbean International’s dining options. My Time Dining guests should take advantage of Daily Reservations to give them complete flexibility as they plan their evenings, particularly for the first few nights onboard,” said Lisa Bauer, senior vice president of Hotel Operations, Royal Caribbean International.

Dinner reservations can be requested for a table for two or a larger table accommodating up to 10 people. Guests can request reservations for the same time with the same people nightly or a different time every evening with different companions. If a particular time is unavailable, Daily Reservations will suggest an alternative time that is closest to the request. Guests will then be able to review their daily dinner reservation details in an easy-to-navigate calendar view, as well as request changes for their dinner reservations through RoyalCaribbean.com.

My Time Dining provides guests with the flexibility to enjoy dinner in the main dining room whenever they wish during dining hours. Guests choosing My Time Dining will not have a pre-assigned table, but will be seated in the ship’s main dining room and order from the same menu. My Time Dining guests can make daily reservations for specific seating times. To ensure a smooth and undisrupted experience, no additional guests will be seated at a table once dinner service has begun. Guests choosing My Time Dining must prepay gratuities and enroll in advance through www.RoyalCaribbean.com, their travel agent, or Royal Caribbean International’s reservations department.

Oasis of the Seas guests can also make reservations in four of Oasis of the Seas specialty restaurants, including Royal Caribbean International’s signature Chops Grille steakhouse, 150 Central Park, Solarium Bistro and the Italian family-style dining in Giovanni’s Table.

Madrid, 15 February 2010. Royal Caribbean International has announced the deployment of Royal Caribbean International’s Liberty of the Seas to Barcelona next year.  Liberty of the Seas will be the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship to be based in the Mediterranean Sea in 2011.

The cruise ship sector in Spain continues to grow at an annual rate of between eight and 10 percent with huge investment in the destination by cruise ship operators a major influencing factor. The Royal Caribbean International Spanish office predicts a 60 percent growth in guest volume in 2010 from Spain, compared with a growth of 30 percent in 2009.

Belén Wangüemert, Managing Director of Royal Caribbean Cruises Espana commented: “We are proud to continue our commitment to the Spanish market, as well as bringing in new ships, we have also significantly increased our staff in Spain so that we can achieve a growth of 60 percent, allowing us to offer almost 100,000 berths. The arrival of Liberty of the Seas in 2011 will consolidate our position as one of the top brands in the market.”

Royal Caribbean International’s Liberty of the Seas was launched in May 2007 and is one of Royal Caribbean International’s Freedom-class cruise ships. The Freedom-class ships were the world’s largest until Royal Caribbean International launched Oasis of the Seas in November 2009. Liberty of the Seas has a capacity of 3,634 guests, double occupancy, and 1,365 crewmembers. Onboard guests can choose from the FlowRider (the first wave pool for surfing onboard a ship), a rock-climbing wall and ice-skating rink, to a full service spa and the Casino Royal.

Itineraries for the seven-night cruise will be announced in March 2010 when bookings are opened to the public.

Royal Caribbean International is a global cruise brand with 21 ships currently in service and one under construction. The line also offers unique cruise tour land packages in Alaska, Canada, Dubai, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand.

Royal Caribbean International’s Liberty of the Seas will move to Barcelona in 2011, joining two other large cruise ships sailing from the Spanish port city that year.

NCL's 4,200-passenger Norwegian Epic and the 3,690-passenger Carnival Magic also are scheduled to spend summer 2011 in Barcelona. The Epic will make its debut this summer, and the Magic is scheduled to enter service in 2011.

The 3,600-passenger Liberty has been based in Miami since its debut in 2007. Royal Caribbean said the Barcelona move demonstrates its commitment to the Spanish market.

"In such a pessimistic economic environment, we are proud to continue our commitment to the Spanish market and to keep investing in it," Belén Wangüemert, managing director of Royal Caribbean’s Spanish division, said in a statement.

Royal Caribbean said the Spanish cruise sector has grown 8-10% annually, despite a fall in general tourism there. The line predicts 60% growth in passenger volume from Spain in 2010, compared with 30% growth in 2009.

The Liberty will be the second Freedom-class vessel to be based in Europe. Its sister ship, the Independence of the Seas, will homeport year-round in Southampton, England, beginning in late April.

In March, Royal Caribbean said it will reveal the Liberty's itineraries from Barcelona as well as how long the ship will be based there. The ship is scheduled to sail from Miami though March 2011.
